Mechanical Basic Interview Question and Answer-2020
Mechanical Basic Interview Question and Answer-2020
Question Number 1: What is
Mechanical Engineering?
Answer:
Technically, mechanical
engineering is the application of the principles and problem-solving techniques
of engineering from design to manufacturing to the marketplace for any object.
Mechanical engineers analyze their work using the principles of motion, energy,
and force ensuring that designs function safely, efficiently, and reliably, all
at a competitive cost.
Question Number 2: What is the
difference between machine and engine?
Answer: The main difference between machine &
engine are:
In Machine:-
-Machine is an apparatus used for the generation of mechanical power. It has many parts, each with a definite function, together performing a particular task.
-Machine is an apparatus used for the generation of mechanical power. It has many parts, each with a definite function, together performing a particular task.
-
Machine is a static device.
-
Machine comprises of engine as one of its parts.
-
Machine is the assembly of desired equipment’s.
-
Machine transforms one form of energy into a different product including, but
not limited to, another form of energy work.
In ENGINE:-
In ENGINE:-
-Engine
is a machine with moving parts that converts power into motion.
-Engine runs the machine.
-Engine is the heart of the machine, due to which the machine works.
-Engine is one type of machine.
-Engine transforms one form of energy into another form of energy.

Question Number 3: What is the
difference between the turbine and the pump?
Answer:
The turbine extracts the energy carried by a fluid
(usually enthalpy energy as in steam power plants, or potential energy an in
turbines installed on water falls) through its impeller blades and transforms
it to a useful mechanical energy.
The pump adds energy to a liquid fluid by
transforming mechanical energy (kinetic energy of the rotation of the pump
impeller) into a fluid kinetic and enthalpy energy. In other words, a pump
increases the flow rate of a liquid fluid.
Question Number 4: What is the
difference between the heat engine & heat pump?
Answer: Heat Engine produces
work and transfers energy from high temp. to low temp source medium. In a Heat
pump, external work is needed to transfer energy from low to high temp Medium.
On
the other hand when the device operates around a cycle in clockwise direction
transforming heat to mechanical energy, we call it heat engine and when it
operates around the same cycle in anti-clockwise direction transforming
mechanical energy to heat, we call it heat pump.
